Revision Brewing What What

Many thanks to my good friend Chris "Logan" Smith for this badass beer. I think Chris stood in the pouring rain in the "lovely" town of Sparks, Nevada, to get this glorious nectar to me.

Simply put, Revision is the best brewery in Nevada..hands down. I can say this without even having visited the location. I do know that I have tried about 4 or 5 of their beers and every one has been better than average if not outstanding. What the hell is there to do in Reno/Sparks besides gamble, get food poisoning at the local buffets or visit the Mustang Ranch...wait...guess that isn't a possibility any more. Reno has had a nice growth recently, but is still in that "why would I go there zone". My apologies for anyone that lives out there. But, what I do know is that Revision makes Reno a positive destination now.

What What, a 9.1% Double IPA, pours with light apricot hue. It's kind of in that "weird color", not a traditional IPA color, and not dark enough to be in the standard double coloring. The head is nice and frothy and looks fairy effervescent.

This dude is all tropical fruit. Mango, papaya, kiwi, canned peaches, etc. It's got a pretty sweet nose with light caramel and some sappy pine tree notes. This one smells delicious.

As the nose suggests, it's a nice fruit basket of flavors. Tangerines come into play along with the dried mango flavor. It's considerably dank as well. Tastes like something you might smell at a Phish concert. Piney hops and a nice sweet caramel malt base blend together nicely.

Sticky sweet, but not quite to that cloying level which you sometimes get once you get past that 9.0% threshold....Dogfish 90....yes I'm talking about you. Aftertaste lingers a bit and then leaves a fairly dry finish. You'll feel the hops dancing in your mouth for a while after the fact.

Revision simply does not disappoint...or at least from what I have had the pleasure of sampling. This triple deserves to be placed up with the best of them. I can't wait until September when I will get a chance to visit this brewery and sample some of their other brews. Bad ass beer from a bad ass brewery.
