Memorial Weekend Feast

First things first. This would be my first blog post EVER! On my brand new hokey looking website that took me about an hour to put together. I'm still trying to figure out how this whole thing works. So, look for occasional pictures, beer rants and reviews, culinary reviews as well as recipes and overall thoughts. I'll also from time to time go off on rants about sports, travel, day to day activities and whatever might randomly pop into my head. I may have some brilliant insight, or I may be in idiot savant mode. Either way, you'll possibly come back, or you'll think this Shelton dude is an odd duck.

This past Saturday we had 5 good friends come over for a Memorial weekend get-together. As usual I had planned for about 20 people when I knew there were only going to be 7 of us. Hey, when I find organic chicken thighs on sale for $2.99 a lb as well as hot links for $1.79 a lb, my head explodes....and the freezer fills up. On the menu this time: tri-tip, pulled pork, chicken thighs, hot links, collard greens, black pepper and bacon pinto beans, potato skins (2 ways), cole slaw (thanks to our good friend Magda), corn on the cob and some assorted rolls. Yes, our fridge is still full with leftovers. This isn't helping my weight loss plan either. Normally I would have pictures of all the goodies, but failed as the photographer this time around.

For dessert our friends Mike and Michelle brought over some ice cream and made some delicious vanilla been and stout floats. All in all a great night with good friends. Our dog Pliny even had a blast.

So, going to sign off here for work purposes...yep, have to work today. I hope to jump back on tonight with some thoughts on a couple beers. Once I figure out the whole process. Oh and GO WARRIORS!
